The Woman's
Costume

The woman's costume
of Torralba is composed by:
The
veil, made of white or ivory embroided tulle.
The
very wide blouse (sa camija), made of white and light
linen, with very long sleeves and pleated at the join of the
shoulder and of the wrist.
The breast-collar (called pettiera) is embroidered and
decorated with gold filigree and coral jewels.
On the blouse we wear the
corset (s’imbustu), with a mustard or white background. The
cloth
(usually the brocade) is enriched by polychrome floral decorations.
The garment has a very stiff structure, obtained from dwarf
palm-tree or iron small sticks, and it is closed in the bust with a
red
ribbon.
On the corset we wear
“su corittu”, a jacket made of black, red and purple
velvet or black silk, embroidered with floral decorations.
The
pleated flared skirt (sa munnedda) is made of red cloth. On
the lower border there is a black lace flounce, witch can be
velvet or satin (also in other colours).
On the skirt we wear the
trapezoidal pocket-less apron (sa fallitta), made of black
silk or brocade, decorated with floral
decorations.
The shoes are made
of black leather, with a little strap.
